The Canadian flag carrier, Air Canada on September 22nd 2021, operated the first direct flight from India to Canada in 5 months.

It is notable that on April 22nd 2021, the Government of Canada had imposed a 30 day complete ban on all direct flights from India, due to the 2nd COVID-19 pandemic wave in India, which was then further kept extending till September 21st 2021.

According to the data available on FlightRadar24, Air Canada’s Delhi-Toronto Flight AC43 departed for Toronto Pearson International Airport from Delhi today i.e. September 22nd 2021, at 12:26 am. The flight is expected to arrive at Toronto at 7:13 am local time.

The airline today had scheduled 2 direct flights from Delhi to Toronto, Flight AC43 and Flight AC2043. Flight AC2043 is also scheduled to depart at 3:05 am from Delhi.

Air Canada has already opened bookings on its Delhi-Toronto/Vancouver routes. The airline has also scheduled to operate 3x weekly direct flights between Delhi and Montreal in the Winter Schedule 2021-22 starting from October 31, 2021. The airline will be operating its state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on all these routes.

The resumption of these flights brings relief for thousands of travelers especially students from Punjab who have been spending big amount for travel to Canada via other countries since May 2021. It could be expected that the Indian national carrier, Air India may also announce the resumption of its direct flights between Delhi and Toronto/Vancouver soon.
