Starting May 20th 2023, Air India will be enhancing its domestic network from Amritsar with relaunch of the non-stop route to Mumbai and additional frequencies on the Amritsar-Delhi route.
This comes after the Indian low-cost carrier, GoFirst suspended its operations in the recent weeks. The airline lead several domestic routes, including the Amritsar-Mumbai route with twice-daily non-stop services. IndiGo at present remains the only operator on this non-stop route, with 1x daily service.
As per the schedule available on Air India’s website, the airline will operate the non-stop Amritsar-Mumbai route with its 182-seater A321 aircraft. However, at present the bookings of this route are only open till June 10th 2023, but are likely to be extended further.
From the same day, the airline will also increase the frequency of its non-stop Amritsar-Delhi route to 23x weekly from present 21x weekly. The airline will operate about 15x weekly of these services with the A321 aircraft.
Air India will now have a total of 36x weekly departures from Amritsar, including 6x weekly international to London & Birmingham.
The market of Amritsar offers the airline some great opportunities for further expansion in both its domestic and international market, including new routes to Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru & Srinagar.
