The Government of India has immediately restored the five-year e-tourist visa suspended from March 2020 for citizens of 156 countries and also restored regular paper visas for citizens of all countries.
According to news reports, the government also said that it has restored the old, long-term regular (paper) tourist visa valid for 5 years, which is issued to citizens of all countries.
In addition, the government has announced that regular long-term (10-year) tourist visas for citizens of the United States and Japan have been restored. Citizens of the United States and Japan will now be able to obtain new long-term (10-year) tourist visas.
A 5-year visit visa is a tourist visa issued to foreign nationals who wish to come to India for continuous travel, and is valid for 5 years. A foreign national can stay in India for a maximum of 90 days per visit. However, a 5 year visa holder may visit India several times.
