Initiative for Traffic Awareness by FlyAmritsar, NGO AVM at the Airport
Amritsar 20 June, 2019: A four-day long traffic awareness and management activity, led by NCC Cadets (Air Wing) of DAV College was conducted at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar. With the initiative taken by Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) and inspiration of Yogesh Kamra, Secretary AVM and Convener (India) of FlyAmritsar Initiative, a team of 25 NCC cadets participated and performed this activity to streamline traffic pattern at the airport by educating drivers for pick up / drop off facility in the circulating area and proper parking of vehicles. NCC cadets also helped the passengers in providing them trolleys which are in lesser number now due to the increase in passenger traffic at the airport.
On the concluding day, Airport Director Manoj Chansoria thanked college managements, students, Amritsar Vikas Manch & The FlyAmritsar Initiative for its efforts. Airport Director honored all the cadets and Wing Commander, Professor Lalit Bhardwaj with Certificate of Voluntary Service at the airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Wing Commander Lalit Bhardwaj, Commanding Officer 2PB AIR SQN, NCC Amritsar said that the participation of NCC cadets in Social programme was enshrined in the core value of NCC. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College Amritsar was of the view that participation of Cadets in outdoor activities enhances the soft skills which is vital in the present-day professional World.
AVM Patron Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi thanked students for doing this activity outside in high temperature and getting a new exposure for performing this activity first time at an International airport and Secretary Yogesh Kamra, who arranged and inspired to hold this activity. Manch Patron Daljit Singh Kohli thanked the management of DAV college and students for performing this service during their holidays.
AVM President & Airport Advisory Committee Member Manmohan Singh Brar, Senior Vice-President Hardip Singh Chahal, Col. Harjit Singh Grover, Gursharan Kaur Grover were also present to honour the cadets for their selfless service during the scorching heat.
Students also shared their experience at the airport with traffic of passengers, cars and other vehicles and shortcomings for the flow of traffic.
