3 May, 2019: Turkmenistan Airline will resume its non-stop flights from Ashgabat to Amritsar & Europe starting June 2019. Airline had to suspend its flights in Feb 2019 to European cities after the European Aviation Safety Agency suspended its permission to fly to EU countries. Due to the ban, airline also suspended its direct International flight between Amritsar- Ashgabat that provided connections to Birmingham, London Heathrow Airport & Frankfurt.

One of the leading budget routes between the UK and Amritsar, Turkmenistan Airlines has long provided a connection for Britain’s Sikh community to Amritsar, location for the Golden Temple, and the Indian capital. Flights linking Ashgabat with London, Frankfurt are also going to resume in summer.
India’s flag carrier Air India suspended its 3x weekly direct Amritsar-Birmingham-Amritsar flights in March 2019 due to air space closure over Pakistan. Resumption of Turkmenistan flights will be a big relief for passengers traveling from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab.
Discrepancies in the American and European systems that define the requirements and standards for the operation of aircraft was cited as one of the reason for the suspension of flights to the cities of the European Union.
