India’s leading Full-Service Carrier, Vistara is now set to expand its network from Amritsar, with a new route to Mumbai.
Starting 1st November 2023, the airline will initiate daily non-stop services between two cities, deploying its A320neo aircraft on the route. Vistara would emerge as the 3rd airline on this route, with Air India already operating 1x daily, while IndiGo operating 2x daily non-stop services.
Notably, Mumbai is the 2nd busiest domestic route from Amritsar, with over 310,000 passengers travelling between the two cities in the year 2019. From November 2023 onwards, there would be approximately 43,200 monthly seats between Amritsar and Mumbai.
The breakdown is as follow:
● Air India: 10,080 seats
● Vistara: 10,800 seats
● IndiGo: 22,320 seats
The move by Vistara to launch this route probably comes after the airline continues to strengthen its Mumbai hub, as well as to capture a significant traffic on this route, and stimulate the market demand.
Currently, Vistara operates 14x weekly non-stop services between Amritsar and Delhi, deploying approximately 18,240 monthly seats on the route. The airline will now have 21x weekly departures from Amritsar, deploying approximately 29,040 monthly seats.
