With over 133 weekly services on 9 non-stop routes, and 4 airlines operating, Amritsar has over 200,000 domestic seats per month, this winter season.
India’s largest carrier, IndiGo, leads the domestic market of Amritsar with approximately a massive 59% share, and full monopoly on 77% of the total routes.
Air India is now at the second position, with 21% market share, followed by GoFirst with 11% and Vistara with 9%.
While some have gained, there has been a significant reduction in the market share of some airlines, while some even took the exit.
In WS2021-22, IndiGo had a domestic market share of over 35%, which was followed by GoFirst with 27%. SpiceJet was at the third position with 17% share. Air India and Vistara had share of 12% and 9% respectively.
As per the schedule available, SpiceJet seems to be taking the exit from Amritsar’s domestic market, for this winter season, with suspension of bookings on routes to Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Patna.
However, the airline is well focused on Amritsar’s international market, as it launched direct services to Rome & Milan Bergamo in Italy from Amritsar, in the recent weeks.
Delhi remains the busiest route for Amritsar with over 96,000 seats per month, while Mumbai is second with over 43,000 seats.
