India’s private airline SpiceJet has resumed its direct flights between Amritsar and Ahmedabad. It will operate direct flights on this route four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday until March 14. From March 15, SpiceJet has opened bookings on its website for six days a week and a daily flight from March 28 onwards. Tickets for this route are also on sale on SpiceJet’s website and can be booked until the end of month of October.
SpiceJet is using its 80-90 seater Q400 aircraft for these flights. With the gradual recovery of domestic flights, flights from the airport may start on other routes in the coming months.
Ahmedabad is home to a large Punjabi population and many people from the Sindhi community from Gujarat also come to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (The Golden Temple). It will also benefit the textile, industrial and diamond traders of Amritsar who trade with Ahmedabad and Surat. With the start of this flight, businessmen from both the cities including Surat will not have to go to Delhi Airport.
Amritsar is now directly connected to 9 domestic destinations Delhi, Mumbai, Nanded, Srinagar, Patna, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Jaipur
